My favorite dishes: onion bhaji + butter chicken

Last month, I had the pleasure of trying Darbar as their guest! Darbar is located on Boulevard Saint-Laurent, just below Sherbrooke and above Maisonneuve. They serve a lot of very popular Indian dishes like butter chicken and tandoori chicken, as well as some Norther Indian specialties. The whole experience was made very safe, as we were allowed to sit upstairs and could view the menu online on our phone and pass our order by calling the restaurant (they would then call us back when the food was ready and we would go downstairs to get it and bring it back up). Here are the dishes we enjoyed:

  • Onion bhaji
  • Tandoori chicken
  • Butter chicken
  • Saag paneer
  • Aloo gobi
  • Vegetable Balti curry
  • Naan bread
  • Rice

Overall, it was a great meal. I particularly liked the onion bhaji, which were perfectly fried on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. That little green dipping sauce (yogurt and coriander) was delicious too! I also really enjoyed my butter chicken, which is probably my favorite Indian dish (I know I know, so mainstream lol).

Since I was accompanied by my vegetarian friend Jason, we ordered a few vegetarian meals which he really enjoyed, like the saag paneer, aloo gobi and the vegetable Balti curry.

Of course, the entire meal was made even better with some excellent naan bread, to soak up all those yummy sauces.

Darbar is still open during this new Quebec confinement (October 2020) for takeout and delivery. Enjoy and thanks for having us!
