Turquoise Blog’s Foodie Moments in: Kissimmee (Orlando) – 2019
During a two week sprint this February, I got to go to Orlando for work (well, Kissimmee/Disney really), Mexico City for fun and then back to Houston for another trade show. Honestly unless you’re going to Disney, there’s literally nothing going on in Kissimmee and its full of chain-type restaurants. So, we made do with what we had!
Carrabba’s – Italian
Surprisingly, I really liked Carrabba’s, even though I have an anti-chain-restaurant policy normally. The food was delicious, fresh and high quality. We enjoyed a great entrée of burrata and cherry tomatoes, mozzarella sticks and then a very good lobster ravioli. Portions were also quite generous and prices very reasonable for what we ordered. Food: 4/5 (very good), Price: $$, Would I go back?: Certainly!
Chuy’s – Tex-Mex
I thought Chuy’s was going to be an authentic Mexican restaurant but nope, it ended up being tex-mex. Overall the food was good, but nothing special. We shared some queso fundido which was surprisingly quite nice, with all the sauces and toppings. I opted for some chicken quesadillas which were nice too. Food: 3/5 (good), Price: $$, Would I go back?: Probs not.
Sakura Asian Fusion Sushi & Grill – Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Asian
I’m usually very skeptical of restaurants that advertise multiple Asian cuisines and rightfully so. I finally settled on the bulgogi which seemed like a safe choice and although the dish was good, it was nowhere near bulgogi lol. It was more of like a Chinese beef stir fry, big pieces of meat and a very sweet sauce. Food: 2.5/5 (average), Price: $, Would I go back?: Probs not.
