My favorite dish: fried chicken

Last month, I got to try Ho Lee Chix as their guest! Following the popular fried chicken craze going on in this city, Ho Lee Chix is the latest to join the game by offering thigh-only-no-skin-and-boneless fried chicken goodness at the brand new LE CENTRAL food hall in the Quartier des Spectacles. Feeling fancy? You can also pair their fried chicken to a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, because why not? (They also have beers for the modest ones).

Ho Lee Chix also offers half a dozen side dishes for you to enjoy with your chicken, ranging from vegetable side dishes to rice, tofu and noodles. They also have half a dozen signature sauces for you to choose from and either lather your fried chicken in or dip in.

On our end, we opted for 4 pieces of fried chicken, accompanied by fried rice, chow mein noodles, salt and pepper tofu over jasmine rice and Hong Kong vegetables. I have to say, the fried chicken was excellent; perfectly crispy on the outside and still juicy and moist on the inside (cheers to chicken thighs). However, I would have liked more seasoning on the chicken itself as I’m not a huge fan of sauces and also, I found the pieces to be very small. For that last point, when I brought that “concern” up, the manager seemed surprised so maybe its just me, and yes I know what a chicken thigh looks like, but I was expecting larger pieces so perhaps something to keep in mind when you are ordering and to order more. Because to me, the pieces we received were more like fried chicken nuggets than fried chicken. For the sides, everything was good, but nothing stood out; I think there’s room to work on the quality of those sides. I also had a Tsing Tao to help wash that fried chicken goodness down and it was a great match.

If you’re looking for a great new spot to grab some fried chicken deliciousness, Ho Lee Chix has you covered in the Quartier des Spectacles area!
