My favorite dish: beef and onion soup dumplings
Last month, I had the pleasure of trying the all-new Yum Yum Soupe Dumpling as their guest! Yum Yum Soupe Dumpling is one of many recent dumpling restaurant openings in the Plateau, specifically on St-Denis (why so many dumplings?); they are conveniently located on St-Denis, just above Des Pins and a 5 minutes walk from Sherbrooke metro station. Yum Yum Soupe Dumpling offers three types of dumplings – soup, steamed, fried – which not all places offer (soup dumplings can be harder to find). They also offer a nice selection of other Asian dishes, like soups and noodle dishes too. Here are the dishes we had the pleasure of trying:
- Laksa noodle soup
- Fried shrimp dumplings
- Pork, shrimp and chive soup dumplings
- Beef and onion soup dumplings
- Tsing Tao & Saké

The soup dumplings at Yum Yum Soupe Dumpling were absolutely fabulous and I highly recommend them! If you love soup dumplings, Yum Yum Soupe Dumpling is a must try! The soup dumplings were super soupy, juicy and yummy. I did however prefer the seasoning and flavour on the beef and onion soup dumplings, as I found the pork, shrimp and chive could have used more seasoning. The fried shrimp dumplings were also very good; full of nice pieces of shrimp. I would only say they needed a little something to hold the shrimp pieces together; perhaps by creating a somewhat paste? (like in shrimp wontons). They were perfectly fried and also very juicy. The laksa was also very good, but I like mine with more coconut milk. With that said, it was very tasty, with nice mild heat to it and perfectly cooked rice noodles.
We had an excellent meal at Yum Yum Soupe Dumpling and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves dumplings and good Asian food, as I’m sure the rest of their menu is delicious too! I definitely think Yum Yum Soupe Dumpling is as good as, if not, even better than Sammi Soupe Dumpling! Time for a dumpling off?
