My favorite dish: Palestinian eggs
Last month, after finally making it to Arthur’s, I also finally made it to Bloomfield! Bloomfield, from what I gather, currently only serves brunch on weekends. Their brunch is heavily influenced by Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavours, spices and ingredients, and its a real delight. Plus, probably what I love most about Bloomfield, is the decor. Its nothing very complex, but part of the restaurant has (fake) hanging flowers from the ceiling and its just so pretty. I’m a huge sucker for flowers, so this is definitely my kinda place and decor. Bloomfield is located on Avenue Van Horne (corner Bloomfield) in Outremont.

I opted for the Palestinian eggs with a side of bacon (Oeuf à la Palestinienne) which consists of two eggs braised in a spicy tomato sauce, served with lamb keftas, tahini yogurt, feta, salad and grilled sourdough bread. Overall the dish was very tasty and I really enjoyed it. However, my experience was slightly tarnished by the fact that they serve the salad right on top of the eggs and the tomato sauce; I’m really not a soggy-salad kinda gal, so this didn’t sit too well with me and I was unable to eat half my salad cause it was covered in tomato sauce. With that said, everything else was great and tasted great too. The seasoning on the tomato sauce was very nice (although it could have used more heat since it was described as spicy) and the lamb keftas were a real treat.
Liz ordered the Bloom omelet – omelet, feta, sumac, fresh dill, barberries and pistachios, served with Automne Boulangerie bread – which was beautifully plated and presented. The omelet was also very tasty and different from your typical “white people” omelet lol. It reminded me a lot of Café Byblos’ omelet, but way better looking (sorry not sorry).

Overall, we enjoyed a very good, unique and different brunch at Bloomfield. I don’t know why, but it was a very quiet day when we went and we basically had the whole place to ourselves, which was nice and refreshing from super busy and noisy brunch places.
So, here is my review of Bloomfield:
Food: 4/5 (very good)
Price: $$
Would I go back?: For sure!
