Restaurant: SeaSalt & Ceviche Bar
Event: Le Brunch Squad’s 10th Meet-Up
Restaurant type: brunch, seafood
Prices: $4.50-$23 brunch
Date: Sunday May 19th 2019
Last month, I attended my first ever Le Brunch Squad Meet Up event at SeaSalt & Ceviche Bar! For those who don’t know, Le Brunch Squad hosts monthly brunch events (kind of like I do) with a large emphasis on community, togetherness and having a good time (mine have a much larger emphasis on food and photography).
SeaSalt & Ceviche Bar is a beautifully decorated restaurant, located in the Old Port of Montreal. As per their name, they offer a wide variety of seafood-focused dishes and have just began their seasonal brunch menu! You’ll find wonderful things on it like Crab Cake Benedict, Lobster eggs Benedict, Seafood breakfast cassolette and more.

I opted for the Crab Cake Benedict, served with breakfast potatoes, chef’s salad and fresh berries (I also ordered a side of thick-cut bacon which was pretty good). Overall, the dish was good, but it had its highs and lows. For example, the crab cake was excellent; very moist, flavorful and with nice chunks of crab. Unfortunately, I was served a dish with only one egg (whereas others who also ordered this dish got two eggs) and the breakfast potatoes portion was, as my friend put it, a child’s portion. Others ordered the half lobster eggs Benedict, which we found to be very misleading, as there was only half of the lobster tail and no claw; that, my friends, is 1/4 lobster, not 1/2 a lobster.
Nonetheless, it was a fun event and nice to see how others run their ships. I have my own criteria when it comes to reviewing restaurants, which I also use on my Instagram account (@elisebgravel). It’s very simple, there are only three points: the quality of the food (on 5), the price (from $ to $$$$$) and the following question: would I go back?
So, here is my review of SeaSalt & Ceviche Bar:
Food: 2.5/5 (average)
Price: $$$
Would I go back?: I wouldn’t go back for brunch, but considering I won a $50 gift card, I’d like to go back for a 5@7 on their terrasse
