A few weeks back, my friends and I discovered Sachère Desserts, post-brunch at Le Passé Composé. Sachère Desserts is located in the Gay Village, on Maisonneuve just off of Beaudry. Its a super cute cafe / cake shop / desserts counter, serving up a bunch of homemade desserts like cakes, muffins and cookies. They also serve an assortment of bag teas and freshly made coffees.
Since we had just come from brunch, we weren’t very hungry and so we just ordered 2 small cakes and some teas. We got the carrot cake and the lemon poppy seed cake, which were both delicious. The carrot cake was nice and moist, whereas the lemon cake was more on the dry side of things (I think that’s how its meant to be?). Anyways, a very cute place to sit and enjoy a cup of tea and some homemade baked goods, or just to pick up a coffee and a slice of cake and go. With that said, if you do plan on staying, know that there is just 1 round table with 3 chairs, 1 small counter with 2 bar stools and then 3 large banquettes in the front with a coffee table (so not a good place if you want to be working on your laptop).
I have my own criteria when it comes to reviewing restaurants, which I also use on my Instagram account (@elisebgravel). It’s very simple, there are only three points: the quality of the food (on 10), the price (from $ to $$$$$) and the following question: would I go back?
So, here is my review of Sachère Desserts:
Food: 4/5 (very good)
Price: $
Would I go back?: Yes but only to get something to go
