A couple of friends and I checked out Siboire for one of our 5@7’s. It took us a good amount of time to choose a place, but Liz and I passed by Siboire and figured we should give it a try (its a place I had been wanting to try out for like 2 years now lol).
The space was very big, nice, warm, casual and cosy. Its definitely a great place to grab some delicious craft beers with some friends or even on a date. Liz and I both got classic IPAs which were excellent. I did however get a taste of the nitrogen (azote) IPA and did not like it; it was like drinking a flat beer.
Liz ended up ordering a pizza to herself, while Étienne and I shared the prosciutto and arugula pizza, along with a poutine. The pizza was good, but nothing special. There was a lot of toppings (prosciutto, arugula, parmesan shavings) which was nice, but the pizza base lacked in sauce and had no melted cheese on it. As for the poutine, we really did not like the sauce. Of course, we still ate it, but the sauce had this weird smokey and sweet taste to it, which we didn’t like. We ended up smothering it in spicy oil, which made it better. The pouding chômeur, however, was excellent. Pouding chômeur is a thick white cake, smothered in a thick maple syrup sauce. Siboire’s was also served with warm slices of apple and a berry coulis. Delicious.
Overall, we had a great time catching up over some good beers at Siboire, but the meal part was quite deceiving. I would recommend Siboire for a pre or post-meal bar, to enjoy some beers, but nothing more. I have my own criteria when it comes to reviewing restaurants, which I also use on my Instagram account (@elisebgravel). It’s very simple, there are only three points: the quality of the food (on 10), the price (from $ to $$$$$) and the following question: would I go back?
So, here is my review of Siboire:
Food: 2/5 (bad)
Would I go back?: Only for some beers, pre or post meal.
