My favorite dish: Gigi linguine

A few weeks back, I had the pleasure of trying out Pizzédélic Monkland with Lizzie. As it name implies, Pizzédélic specialises themselves in pizzas and is located on Monkland avenue in NDG. Pizzédélic not only serves their iconic square pizzas, but pastas, salads, burgers and more. They even have a kids menu AND a teens menu, how cool is that? I wish those had been around when I was a teenager!

Considering we’d just had a pretty filling lunch (of pizza as well) earlier that day, we opted for just a few dishes to share:

  • Margarita pizza with tomato sauce, bocconcini, fresh tomatoes and basil
  • Gigi linguine: rosé sauce, portobello mushrooms, green onions and prosciutto
  • Cesar salad: romaine lettuce, parmesan, bacon and homemade cesar dressing
  • Crème brûlée
  • Passionfruit sorbet
  • Latte
  • Bubbles & Barrels: Canadian Club, prosecco, apple juice & cane sugar
  • Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc

Overall, we had a good time at Pizzédélic. I liked the gigi linguine the best, probably because I’m such a pasta lover. Everything about the dish was on point and exactly what I expected from it. The sauce was tomatoey and creamy and there was a lot of prosciutto and cheese on top. The margarita pizza was good, I loved the fresh ingredients on top, but I found the crust to be too thin to my liking. The Cesar salad was light and refreshing, thanks to its light homemade dressing (as opposed to those thick creamy ones). The coffee and desserts were very good too; the crème brûlée was nice and rich, thick and smooth.

Choose Pizzédélic if you like very thin crust pizzas, with fresh and simple toppings. They’ve also launched their new fall wines and cocktails menu, which is worth a detour! Liz enjoyed three glasses of their Bubbles & Barrels cocktail, which she loved and I opted for their Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, which is one of my favorite wines. Cheers to the weekend!
